About Us

Forty Woods Bait N’ Tackle has been THE local bait shop in Blue Springs Missouri since 1975, serving customers from all over Missouri, Kansas & beyond. With its distinctively painted huge name on the front of the building, there’s really no mistaking its purpose! Forty Woods was, is and will continue to be the best bait shop in the surrounding area.

In 2022 after 45+ years in the “bait biz”, Mark Hill & Todd Rentfro retired to do some fishing of their own! Not one day was missed during the transition and the new owner is excited to carry on the legacy and serve another generation of visitors.

Fishing License Information

In the state of Missouri, a permit to fish is required unless you qualify for an exemption. In addition, certain species require additional permits to be fished.

The following are the criteria for exemption:

Resident landowner with over 5 acres fishing on owned land
Missouri residents over 65 Years old
Anyone under 25 Years old
Disabled Veterans
Individuals with serious medical conditions
